The legacy of the Games lives on: in Milan, Olympic Day promotes well-being and active lifestyles

23 giugno 2026

The Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games are now a cherished memory, but the journey launched to build a lasting cultural legacy lives on.

This year again, on the occasion of Olympic Day, the city of Milan celebrated movement with a collective event dedicated to well-being, inclusion and the values of the Olympic spirit, with the aim of promoting healthy lifestyles in workplaces and in people’s everyday lives.

The initiative – promoted by the Wellness Foundation, Bocconi University and Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026, in collaboration with Assolombarda and Technogym, and under the patronage of the City of Milan and the Conference of Italian University Rectors (CRUI) – is part of two projects launched to contribute to the intangible legacy of the Games: Milano Wellness City 2030, coordinated by the Wellness Foundation to highlight the role of cities as places of prevention and well-being, and sPark of Change, an initiative developed by Bocconi University to showcase the economic, social and cultural impact of sport and major events.

The day featured two main moments. In the late afternoon, more than 250 employees from companies including Allianz, Mediaset, Technogym, TIM and others took part in an active walk led by trainers and athletes, starting from several iconic Games venues and ending at the Bocconi University campus.

At the end of the walk, the campus hosted a conference dedicated to well-being, the Olympic and Paralympic legacy, and the role of sport as a driver of positive change. Following an opening address by Rector Francesco Billari, two panel discussions featuring representatives from the business and sports sectors provided an opportunity to reflect on the legacy that the Games can leave for people, communities and local areas. Closing remarks were delivered by Riccardo Taranto, Managing Director of Bocconi University.

The event forms part of the global celebrations of Olympic Day, through which the International Olympic Committee promotes the “Let’s Move” campaign, created to encourage people to be more active and to incorporate movement into their daily lives. The message chosen for 2026, “You Can Do This. Let’s Move.”, invites everyone to take the first step towards a more active lifestyle and places particular emphasis on young people, encouraging them to believe in their abilities and engage with sport without fear of making mistakes, in the knowledge that every step can help build self-confidence, well-being and inclusion.

A celebration of movement, but above all an initiative designed to leave a tangible mark on the city’s urban, social and professional fabric. Because every step represents a commitment to a culture of well-being, physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
