Milano Cortina 2026: what a celebration for Olympic Day!

24 maggio 2025

On June 23, to mark Olympic Day, the Foundation celebrated the movement with a collective event dedicated to wellness, inclusion, and the Olympic spirit.

An Olympic celebration with a view toward Milano Cortina 2026. On June 23, the heart of Milan turned into an open-air gym to celebrate Olympic Day. This international day dedicated to movement was established by the International Olympic Committee to commemorate its founding on June 23, 1894, in Paris by Baron Pierre de Coubertin. It served as an opportunity to highlight the importance of sport and its power to inspire people. For this year’s Olympic Day, the IOC once again launched the campaign “Let’s Move,” a global call to get moving and to reinforce how essential physical activity is in everyday life.

The 2025 edition carried the slogan “Let’s Move…and bring your +1,” because an active lifestyle is a healthy habit—and a contagious one. With this spirit, Milano Cortina 2026 turned Olympic Day into a collective experience capable of bringing together people, companies, and stakeholders around the Olympic values, on a shared journey toward well-being.

In the late afternoon of June 23, employees and collaborators from over 35 participating companies gathered at various points across the city—from the Triennale di Milano to the Salomon Store on Corso Garibaldi, passing through the Arco della Pace—to join a large group walk led by Technogym master trainers. Their shared destination? The Arena Civica, an iconic city sports venue, where the final part of the day took place with special activities and speeches from Olympic and Paralympic athletes, hosted by Michele Mainardi from Radio Deejay.

This initiative didn’t just celebrate the Olympic atmosphere—it aimed to make a real impact on the urban and professional fabric of the city: every step was a statement of support for the culture of movement and prevention.

“Move More”: When Wellness Enters the Workplace

Olympic Day 2025 was also an opportunity to promote the “Move More” project, led by the Foundation in collaboration with Assolombarda and the Wellness Foundation. It encouraged companies to rethink the workplace as an environment for cultivating health and well-being, through active breaks, sustainable mobility, shared physical activity, and increased awareness of the benefits of daily movement.

A simple action—like a walk or some desk stretching—can become a vehicle for culture, energy, and inclusion. “Let’s Move” is more than a slogan; it’s a mindset shift.

Milano Wellness City 2030: A City That Cares

The day also fit into the broader framework of the Milano Wellness City 2030 project, launched in 2023 by the Wellness Foundation to promote the role of cities as spaces for prevention and well-being. This vision aligns perfectly with the intangible legacy of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which aim to leave a lasting, positive impact on people’s habits and on local communities. The goal is to encourage an active lifestyle—especially among working adults, a population segment statistically less likely to engage in daily physical activity. To support this, the Foundation promotes the “Go for 30” project, which encourages at least 30 minutes of movement per day, as recommended by the World Health Organization.

With the patronage of the City of Milan, in collaboration with the WHP network, the Lombardy Region, and the technical support of Coca-Cola, Salomon, and Technogym, the event successfully mobilized a true community of people, united by the desire to feel good—together.

The message Milano Cortina 2026 sought to share on this Olympic Day is clear: sport is a tool for social change, a universal language that unites, empowers, sparks dreams, and welcomes everyone. A small preview of the Italian Spirit that will light up the 2026 Games.

Olympic Day 2025 also saw enthusiastic participation from the Foundation’s partners, who responded to the “Let’s Move” call with original and creative projects that engaged their teams in the name of sport, health, and sustainability.
