The fifth edition of Milano4MentalHealth is now underway. Promoted by the City of Milan, the initiative puts mental health at the heart of public debate and city life throughout the month of October.

More than 100 events, including talks, activities and awareness-raising initiatives, will take place across Milan, bringing together institutions, associations, health and social care services, businesses and professionals. The programme reflects a shared commitment to fostering a more open, inclusive and collective approach to mental health, tackling stigma and bringing the issue beyond professional and specialist circles.
The 2026 edition was officially presented on 2 October at the Sala degli Orologi in Palazzo Marino during the event “An Alliance for Mental Health”. The event opened with remarks by Lamberto Bertolé, Councillor for Welfare and Health of the City of Milan and President of the Italian Network of Healthy Cities – WHO, followed by a keynote address from psychoanalyst Massimo Recalcati on new forms of psychological distress.
The discussion brought together representatives from ATS Milano, the Lombardy Association of Psychologists, Lundbeck Italia and Wellness Foundation, alongside organisations involved in the City of Milan’s co-designed mental health initiatives. Representing Wellness Foundation was Federica Alberti, Director of the Foundation, who contributed to a broader alliance bringing together different areas of expertise and perspectives.
For Wellness Foundation, promoting wellbeing also means recognising mental health as a fundamental part of overall health.
This principle underpins a vision of wellness that takes a holistic view of the individual and recognises the value of collaboration between institutions, communities and organisations in creating the conditions for people to thrive.
In this sense, Milano4MentalHealth provides an important opportunity to build connections, share knowledge and help bring mental health increasingly to the heart of community life.
The programme will continue throughout October, with a wide range of initiatives taking place across the city, leading up to World Mental Health Day on 10 October.
